Finally! I have a moment to commentate on all the changes that have happened. I have gone, almost overnight from a remote, home based florist to a full-fledged brick & mortar florist. I have been so grateful for friends coming in and saying hi, and being customers and meeting new friends - flower lovers for sure! I am so looking forward to bringing smiles to everyone's faces by way of beautiful flowers. If you haven't been in yet, please come on in and see what's happening! 17487 Penn Valley Dr. B100 in Peaceful Valley Plaza in, as I like to call it, the Heart of Penn Valley! (530) 559-4724
So much happened since I started Floristics. Let's see, my first (and only so far) post was in May of 2015. Now it is July of 2017! What's happened in the mean time? Well, I have been busy with flowers selling bouquets to the beautiful women of Lake Wildwood whom I was singing with every week. They were all so very supportive of me and joyfully bought flowers from me. I didn't earn much from this, but it got me down to the market frequently and it was a great pleasure to bring smiles to the faces of friends with lovely combos of colors and textures.
Weddings and other celebrations - I have done flowers for 2 weddings, a 100th birthday & a post-wedding celebration. I have also did flowers on a regular basis for Calla Lily Crepes in Nevada City, CA during late 2015/2016. I also did flowers in a private home for a number of occasions including two dinner parties. So much fun!
As I have been building this business, I have needed other ways of busying myself and earning a living. I taught at Yuba River Charter School (YRCS) for the 2015-16 school year as the assistant to the Homeschool Farm Program run by Raelynn Noel. It was a delight and working with children has been as much of a theme of my life as flowers have been. Just after the school year, my fiancé and I discovered that I was pregnant! Wow, exciting! We decided to up our wedding date to January 1, 2017 as our daughter was due in February. She decided to shake things up a bit by coming to us post-term 42 1/2 weeks in the oven, but well worth the wait! Amara Sweet Engstrom, born March 7, 2017 at 22.5 inches long & 9 lbs. 15 oz. Yes, that's right folks, nearly 10 lbs.! Pretty impressive stats. As I write this, she is just past 4.5 months and nearly sitting up, very good at rolling over both ways, crawling (sort of) backwards, squealing and babbling at full volume, grabbing toys, hair, clothing, basically anything within reach.
Now, I wonder when I will next get a chance to dance with some flowers?
Here it is, a day with decidedly undecided weather - warm and cold, cloudy and sunny, breezy but not really. Appropriate weather for these website building days. I will have you all know, the sooner I make more flower arrangements, the sooner I will be able to have more example photos in my galleries - - so get ordering!! : )
Thanks for looking and reading. I am also happy for any feedback you might have about my website, i.e. is it easy to navigate, use and understand?
